How we get the static holiday homes into Karrageen

As we approach spring, although you wouldn't think it with all this snow and cold weather we've been having, it's time for us to start preparations to open up the holiday park. With a total of 25 static caravans, 21 privately owned and 4 for hire throughout the season, it’s always a challenge to get them through the lanes; but it can be done!

As many of our guests would have driven through the narrow lanes to reach our camping and caravan park, which boasts one of the best views of Hope Cove from our top field, have you ever wondered how we get those static caravans through the lanes? Luckily in-between snowstorms we managed to find a fine day where we were able to guide the massive 'Mayflower Transport' lorry bringing in our latest addition with their usual pin point accuracy. So if you're ever in a large vehicle, and think you can't get to Karrageen, think again.

Once the lorry turns off the main Kingsbridge to Salcombe road into Malbrough, this is where the driver's skill and precision is put to the test. Negotiating the narrow lanes, sharp bends and low lying trees took approximatly 20 minutes, and a further hour to carefully winch and guide the static caravan into it's spot. Once grounded and secure, Phil gets his hands dirty and hooks the static holiday home to Karrageen's own fresh spring water supply and electricity.

The final stages as the static caravan is placed into its plot, awaiting it's new ower's arrival.
